“On San Miguel Island, the westernmost of California’s Channel Islands, a Peregrine falcon looks back towards a cave with Chumash pictographs, while an island fox forages in the bush below. Prince Island, a seabird haven, lies in the background. This painting was a gift to former park ranger and friend, Nick Whelan.
