Artist's Comments:
California spiny lobster, or “bugs,” as local divers call them, hole up during the day, venturing forth at night to scavenge. I have surrounded this one with other rocky reef residents. Behind is a moray eel, and on the far right are abalone shells, purple sea urchins and a blue-banded goby.
