In Greek mythology, Gaia was Mother Earth. The Gaia Hypothesis proposes that all organisms and the chemical and physical environments in which they live, cooperate together to generate conditions most suitable for supporting life. In this picture, earth is a single-celled organism surrounded by larval forms of crabs and barnacles.
